Job Description

Job Overview – Youth Violence Reduction Specialist (BSW):
Join our client as a Youth Violence Reduction Specialist (BSW) in Philadelphia, PA, empowering youth aged 11-24 through violence prevention programs. This temporary role addresses root causes of violence, fosters behavioral change, and builds life skills like career development and financial literacy, in collaboration with schools and community leaders.

Compensation: $22/hour
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM


Responsibilities as the Youth Violence Reduction Specialist (BSW):
  • Program Facilitation: Lead group sessions and workshops using the YES curriculum, covering conflict resolution, peer pressure, trauma-informed care, and community mapping.
  • Youth Engagement: Build meaningful relationships with youth and families, offering emotional support and encouraging positive behavioral change.
  • Collaboration: Work with school staff, community organizations, and other stakeholders to maximize program impact and effectiveness.
  • Assessment & Evaluation: Collect and analyze pre- and post-program surveys to measure outcomes and refine program strategies.
  • Outreach & Advocacy: Represent the agency at community events and interagency meetings while connecting youth to resources like mental health support, after-school programs, and mentoring.
Qualifications for the Youth Violence Reduction Specialist (BSW):
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Education, or a related field required (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience working with youth, particularly in violence prevention or related areas.
  • Skills: Expertise in group facilitation, counseling, and program evaluation, with strong communication skills and the ability to effectively engage diverse community stakeholders.
  • Attributes: Flexible, patient, and strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal and leadership abilities and a passion for empowering youth.
  • Additional Requirements: Valid driver’s license, familiarity with child-serving systems, and proficiency in relevant computer programs.
