Job Description


Role Overview:
The outpatient therapist will carry a caseload to be seen primarily in the office but could also provide services in a jail-based setting. Primary duties include assessment and diagnosing, developing treatment plans, completing the necessary documentation, intakes/annual assessments, and providing individual and/or family therapy as well as group therapy.

Compensation: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00
Location: Alleghany County, Virginia

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload, conducting assessments, diagnosing, and developing treatment plans primarily in the office, with potential services in a jail-based setting

  • Complete necessary documentation, including intakes/annual assessments, and maintain electronic records for client caseload

  • Provide individual and/or family therapy, as well as group therapy; participate in treatment team meetings with psychiatrists and service team members

  • Administer all Medicaid authorizations for clients on the caseload with Medicaid insurance

  • Engage in weekly supervision sessions with the direct supervisor; provide hourly supervision to Residents in Counseling

  • Administer and manage sign-on bonuses for eligible Virginia licensed LCSWs and LPCs

  • Adhere to evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and emergency interventions

  • Utilize knowledge of community mental health and public health for advocacy and enhanced client access to community resources

  • Maintain quarterly evaluations, handle outside reports, and manage correspondence when necessary

  • Ensure compliance with service standards and principles related to mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse

Qualifications:

  • Hold a Master's degree from an accredited college/university in an applicable human services field

  • Possess licensure in the State of Virginia as LPC, LCSW, LCP, or Licensed Eligible (LMHP-R or LMHP)

  • Consideration for candidates with a Master's degree working towards licensure

  • Demonstrate proficiency in evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and various therapeutic modalities

  • Have knowledge of community mental health, public health, and advocacy principles

  • Understand psychiatric/medical medications and treatments

  • Possess a valid driver's license and the ability to drive
