Job Overview – Speech-Language Pathologist (Special Education):
Join our client as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in Bronx, NY, delivering specialized therapy to students with autism, intellectual disabilities, and developmental delays. This full-time, school-based role involves individual and group therapy, augmentative communication assessments, and interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance student success. TSSLD certification is required.

Compensation: $55/hour
Location: Bronx, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM


Responsibilities as the Speech-Language Pathologist (Special Education):
  • Therapeutic Interventions: Provide individual and group speech-language therapy using traditional and augmentative communication techniques.
  • Assessments & Evaluations: Conduct comprehensive speech-language and AAC assessments, developing diagnostic reports with treatment recommendations.
  • Individualized Treatment Planning: Create and implement tailored Individualized Clinic Plans (ICPs) to support students’ communication needs.
  • Collaboration & Training: Work with educators, therapists, and families to coordinate support and provide training on communication strategies and AAC devices.
  • Equipment & Compliance: Maintain AAC equipment, coordinate with vendors for maintenance, and ensure adherence to clinical and educational standards.
  • Professional Development: Engage in training, meetings, and school initiatives to enhance speech-language services and program effectiveness.
Qualifications for the Speech-Language Pathologist (Special Education):
  • Licensure: New York State Speech Pathology License required.
  • Certification: ASHA CCC, and TSSLD certification required.
  • Education: Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution (CFY candidates will be considered).
  • Experience: 1+ year in AAC assessment and intervention or relevant coursework with workshops, with 2 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
  • School-Based Expertise: Experience in a school setting, working with children diagnosed with autism, learning disabilities, and intellectual disabilities is highly desirable.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with AAC devices, EasyTrack software, and electronic documentation systems.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong ability to collaborate, problem-solve, and adapt therapy techniques to meet diverse student needs.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and transfer students as needed to support personal care and ensure student safety.
