Job Overview – Speech-Language Pathologist (Pediatric & Special Needs):
Compensation: $59 – $61/hour
Location: Bronx, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Full-Time)
Our client is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist (Pediatric & Special Needs) in Bronx, NY, to deliver individualized and small group therapy for children with visual impairments, multiple disabilities, blindness, and sensory challenges. In this role, you will implement IEP based interventions, conduct speech and language evaluations, and work with interdisciplinary teams to improve communication, safe feeding practices, and AAC device usage. Proficiency with EHR systems, AAC technology, and Medicaid/IDEA documentation is required.
Responsibilities as the Speech-Language Pathologist:
Deliver Targeted Therapy: Provide individual and small group interventions aligned with IEP goals to build functional communication and independence.
Maintain Records & Compliance: Document attendance, progress, and Medicaid/IDEA requirements using EHR systems.
Conduct Evaluations & Screenings: Complete assessments, hearing screenings, and make referrals as appropriate.
Support Feeding & AAC Use: Recommend therapeutic feeding interventions, train staff, and integrate AAC devices into therapy.
Collaborate with Families & Teams: Work with parents, educators, and interdisciplinary teams to support student progress and carryover strategies.
Qualifications for the Speech-Language Pathologist:
Education: Master’s degree in Speech/Language Pathology from an accredited university required.
Certification: New York State Certification as a Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped (TSHH) or Teacher of Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) required.
Licensure: Current New York State license as a Speech-Language Pathologist required.
Experience: Pediatric therapy experience with special needs populations, including visual impairments, multiple disabilities, and sensory challenges, preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with electronic health records, AAC device programming and troubleshooting, and Medicaid/IDEA documentation.
