Job Description

Job Overview – Social Worker (MSW):
Take on a meaningful role as a Social Worker (MSW) in Queens, NY, specializing in elder abuse intervention and support. In this hybrid position, you’ll conduct in-home and in-office assessments, create individualized care plans, and connect older adults facing abuse or exploitation with essential services to improve their safety, well-being, and quality of life.

Compensation: $34/hour
Location: Queens, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Hybrid)


Responsibilities as the Social Worker (MSW):
  • Client Assessments: Perform in-home and in-office evaluations using tools like PSA, Peerplace, PHQ-9, and GAD-7 to assess emotional, social, and physical needs.
  • Care Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive care and safety plans tailored to each client’s unique situation.
  • Counseling Support: Provide individual and family counseling, offering strategies to address issues related to abuse and promote client autonomy.
  • Resource Coordination: Educate clients on available resources, screen for benefits eligibility, and coordinate services such as transportation, meals, and home care.
  • Financial Oversight: Assess clients' financial management capacity, assist with financial services, and manage relief fund disbursements when necessary.
Qualifications for the Social Worker (MSW):
  • Education: Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) or a related field (e.g., counseling, gerontology, psychology) from an accredited institution.
  • Certification: New York State Certification in Social Work (preferred).
  • Experience: Proficiency in evidence-based counseling methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, or Person-Centered Therapy.
  • Skills: Strong writing, record-keeping, and computer literacy skills (bilingual in Spanish or Cantonese/Mandarin preferred).
  • Attributes: Deep understanding of cultural diversity’s impact on service delivery.
