Job Overview – RN Assistant Director of Nursing (IDD Services):
Compensation: $95,000 – $100,000/year
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM


Lead nursing operations as an RN Assistant Director of Nursing (IDD Services) in New York, NY, with our client, managing clinical oversight and compliance across residential programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Oversee RN supervision, staff training, and regulatory adherence while partnering with QA and education teams to ensure OPWDD standards are met. Ideal candidates bring leadership experience in IDD nursing and a collaborative, training-focused approach.

Responsibilities as the RN Assistant Director of Nursing:
  • Nursing Supervision: Oversee and support Residential RNs, providing direct coverage and clinical guidance within the assigned cluster.
  • Training & Development: Coordinate AMAP certifications, PEG tube training, and new nurse orientation in collaboration with RN Educators.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure accurate documentation, treatment oversight, and readiness for audits through strong QA collaboration.
  • Hospital Discharge Planning: Manage discharge coordination, hospital communication, and follow-up training for staff.
  • Emergency & On-Call Support: Provide after-hours triage and emergency response, ensuring timely clinical intervention.
Qualifications for the RN Assistant Director of Nursing:
  • Licensure: Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license is required.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: 3+ years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in an OPWDD-regulated setting.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and support a team in a regulatory setting.
  • Additional: Valid driver’s license is required.
