Job Overview - Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner:
Ready to bring your passion for mental health to a vibrant community? Our client in Brooklyn, NY, is on the lookout for a dedicated and experienced Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join their healthcare team part-time. In this role, you’ll dive into providing psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and psycho-education to clients aged 5 and older.
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Compensation: $100 - $115/hour
Schedule: Monday to Friday, Flexible hours
Responsibilities as the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner:
Diagnosis and Treatment: Determine clients' psychiatric needs, prescribe medication, and provide education on treatment.
Medication Management: Review and adjust medication regimens, administer medications, including injectables and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), and monitor health metrics such as weight, height, and blood pressure.
Evaluations and Interventions: Conduct psychiatric evaluations, health monitoring, smoking cessation, and crisis intervention.
Referrals and Follow-Up: Manage and respond to referrals, maintaining effective collaboration with other providers.
Training and Meetings: Conduct staff meetings, training sessions, and participate in inter-agency meetings.
Patient Empowerment: Develop and facilitate classes and groups focused on medication education, wellness, and symptom management.
Specimen Collection: Collect urine specimens for toxicology tests.
Collaboration with Primary Care: Work with primary care physicians and nursing teams to improve health outcomes.
Consultation: Provide consultation on medication issues and high-risk clients, and present to social workers as needed.
Qualifications for the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner:
Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing or equivalent.
Licensure: New York State Nurse Practitioner License and current registration.
Certifications: Current CPR (BLS), First Aid, DEA registration, ANCC certification.
Experience: At least 1 year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
Skills: Excellent time management, organizational, communication, teamwork, and computer skills.
