Job Overview – Outpatient Mental Health Specialist (Bachelor’s Level):
Compensation: $24/hour
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM


Our client is hiring a Mental Health Specialist in Philadelphia, PA, to provide care coordination and recovery support in a community-based outpatient program. Key responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing service plans, and delivering support for mental health and substance use recovery. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree, has experience in behavioral health, and excels in client advocacy, staff training, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities as the Outpatient Mental Health Specialist:
  • Client Assessment & Recovery Planning: Conduct assessments and help develop personalized rehabilitation plans based on individual needs and recovery goals.
  • Care Coordination & Support: Monitor services, coordinate with providers, and offer specialized support for substance use recovery and relapse prevention.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation aligned with agency policies and funding regulations.
  • Collaboration & Advocacy: Work with interdisciplinary teams, support residential staff, and advocate for client access to services and resources.
  • Community Resource Linkage: Connect clients to housing, employment, and mental health resources to promote holistic, community-based recovery.
Qualifications for the Outpatient Mental Health Specialist:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Sciences, Healthcare, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in mental health or intellectual/developmental disability services, including at least 2 years of substance use recovery experience.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with EMR documentation systems and knowledge of recovery-based and trauma-informed care models.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong communication, organization, and counseling skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across residential and clinical teams.
  • Travel Requirements: Must be able to travel to residential and community sites as needed for client support and coordination.
