Job Overview – Occupational Therapist (School-Based)
Compensation: $70,000 – $75,000/year
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (School Hours)

TAG MedStaffing is hiring an Occupational Therapist (School-Based) in New York, NY for our client, supporting school-based occupational therapy services, functional skill development, motor development, and individualized education programs within an educational setting. This opportunity will collaborate with educators, therapists, families, and support staff to help students improve independence, classroom participation, and overall functional performance. The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical skills, pediatric or school-based experience, and a collaborative approach to supporting student growth and success.

Responsibilities as the Occupational Therapist:
  • Therapy Services: Provide occupational therapy services in accordance with individualized education plans, treatment goals, and student needs.
  • Evaluation & Assessment: Conduct evaluations, assessments, and screenings to identify functional challenges and develop treatment recommendations.
  • Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on self-care, sensory regulation, motor development, academic participation, and daily living skills.
  • Progress Monitoring: Maintain accurate documentation, track student progress, and adjust interventions to support achievement of therapeutic goals.
  • Collaborative Care: Partner with teachers, families, therapists, and healthcare providers to coordinate services and support student success.
  • Adaptive Equipment Support: Assist with recommendations, implementation, and monitoring of adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and therapeutic accommodations.
Qualifications for the Occupational Therapist:
  • Education: Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program is required.
  • Licensure: Active New York State Occupational Therapist license and registration are required.
  • Experience: Experience working with children in school-based, pediatric, special education, developmental disability, or related settings is preferred.
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of individualized education plans, developmental disabilities, sensory integration, and pediatric therapeutic interventions is required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic documentation systems is required.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong communication, organizational, time management, and collaboration skills with the ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team are required.
