Job Overview – Mental Health Specialist (LMHC):
Make a difference in patients' lives with our client as a Mental Health Specialist! This role involves providing mental health services to clients with HIV/AIDS and their families. The Specialist will conduct assessments, develop service plans, and offer counseling and support to enhance clients' capacity for independent living.
Compensation: $34/hour
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Schedule: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday
Responsibilities as the Mental Health Specialist:
Assessments and Service Plans: Conduct mental health assessments and assist in developing comprehensive service plans with short- and long-term goals.
Mental Health Services: Provide mental health services, referrals, and support for medication adherence, daily living activities, nutritional services, and recreation programs.
Counseling and Collaboration: Offer supportive counseling and collaborate with mental health providers to ensure clients comply with treatment.
Home Visits: Conduct home visits and maintain face-to-face contact as specified in service plans.
Group Implementation: Develop and implement weekly groups, including the Wellness Self-Management model.
Documentation: Complete all required documentation, including assessments, progress notes, and service plans, in a timely manner.
Case Conferences and Training: Participate in case conferences, training, workshops, seminars, and meetings with peers and supervisors.
Recreational Activities: Assist in planning and organizing program recreational activities.
Qualifications for the Mental Health Specialist:
Education: Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
Experience: 1-3 years in mental health counseling, preferably with HIV/AIDS clients and in Scattered Sites Programs.
Counseling: Proficiency in individual, family, and group counseling.
Language: Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Knowledge: Familiar with community mental health resources and counseling practices.
Attributes: Compassionate, flexible, and culturally sensitive to individuals with HIV/AIDS and severe mental illness.
