Job Overview – Medical Receptionist
Compensation: $21.00/hour
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)

TAG MedStaffing is hiring a Medical Receptionist in New York, NY for our client, supporting the daily operations of a busy outpatient specialty practice. This role serves as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointment scheduling, insurance verification, patient registration, and front desk operations while delivering an exceptional patient experience. The ideal candidate is organized, customer-focused, and thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Responsibilities as the Medical Receptionist:
  • Patient Registration: Welcome patients, verify demographic and insurance information, and ensure accurate registration and documentation.
  • Appointment Scheduling: Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments while coordinating physician calendars and maintaining efficient office flow.
  • Insurance Verification: Verify insurance eligibility and coverage, assist with patient inquiries, and support accurate billing and registration processes.
  • Front Office Operations: Answer incoming phone calls, assist patients and visitors, maintain medical records, and support day-to-day administrative functions.
  • Administrative Support: Assist physicians and office leadership with clerical tasks, documentation, filing, and other operational responsibilities as needed.
  • Patient Experience: Deliver outstanding customer service while maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and efficient front desk operations.

Qualifications for the Medical Receptionist:
  • Education: High school diploma is required.
  • Experience: Previous experience as a medical receptionist, patient services representative, front desk coordinator, or in a healthcare administrative role is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of medical office operations, patient registration, scheduling, and medical insurance verification is required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems is required. Experience with Epic is preferred.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills with the ability to multitask, work independently and collaboratively, maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment, and provide a welcoming experience for patients. Bilingual Spanish is preferred.
