Job Overview – LMSW Assistant Program Director (Transitional Housing):
Compensation: $75,000 – $82,000/year
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM


Our client is seeking an LMSW Assistant Program Director in New York, NY to lead operations for a transitional housing program supporting individuals experiencing homelessness. This role is ideal for a licensed social worker with clinical expertise, strong leadership abilities, and experience in program oversight. You’ll supervise staff, manage external partnerships, and guide service planning using Housing First and Harm Reduction models.

Responsibilities as the LMSW Assistant Program Director:
  • Program Oversight: Lead day-to-day service delivery, staff supervision, and training to ensure effective program operations.
  • Clinical Leadership: Guide case management using Housing First, Harm Reduction, and trauma-informed care models.
  • Staff & Crisis Support: Conduct case conferences and support staff with client engagement, crisis response, and de-escalation.
  • Service Planning & Documentation: Oversee assessments and service plans with accurate, timely documentation.
  • External Collaboration: Liaise with DHS, hospitals, and community partners to ensure coordinated, client-centered care.
Qualifications for the LMSW Assistant Program Director:
  • Education: Master’s degree in Social Work or related field required.
  • Licensure: NYS Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role, ideally within 24/7 programs serving homeless or formerly homeless populations.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), with familiarity in Access-based databases preferred.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership, communication, and multitasking abilities with a proactive, solution-oriented approach to challenges.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of behavioral health systems, crisis intervention, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care.
  • Language Requirement: Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
