Job Description

Job Overview – Housing Specialist (Bilingual Spanish):
Take on a vital role as a Housing Specialist (Bilingual Spanish) in Brooklyn, NY, helping clients secure safe and stable housing. In this full-time position, you’ll identify suitable apartments, ensure habitability standards are met, and collaborate with clients, landlords, and internal teams to achieve successful housing outcomes.

Compensation: $24/hour
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM


Responsibilities as the Housing Specialist (Bilingual Spanish):
  • Housing Coordination: Identify and secure appropriate housing, prepare lease agreements, and ensure apartments are ready for move-in.
  • Client Support: Accompany clients to apartment viewings, coordinate move-ins, and assist with utilities and start-up supplies.
  • Lease Management: Monitor lease expirations, address maintenance issues, and ensure timely repairs to uphold safety and habitability.
  • Administrative Tasks: Maintain detailed records in databases like Client Track and CAPS, process work orders, and provide reports to management and funders.
  • Utility Oversight: Review and address discrepancies in utility bills and request emergency assistance when needed to support clients.
  • Compliance and Inspections: Conduct unit inspections, submit vacancy reports, and participate in administrative meetings to ensure program standards.
Qualifications for the Housing Specialist (Bilingual Spanish):
  • Language: Bilingual in Spanish required.
  • Education: High school diploma required (Associate’s degree preferred).
  • Experience: Previous experience working with individuals facing homelessness, mental illness, or substance abuse.
  • Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Attributes: Detail-oriented, responsive in emergencies, and collaborative in supporting clients’ housing stability.
