Job Overview – RN Training Specialist (OPWDD/IDD):
Compensation: $40/hour
Location: Queens, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM


Our client is hiring an RN Training Specialist (OPWDD/IDD) in Queens, NY, to deliver AMAP training, recertification, and clinical education for Direct Support Professionals. In this role, you will lead classroom sessions, facilitate small groups, and ensure compliance with OPWDD standards using approved curriculum. This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with OPWDD/IDD experience who is passionate about training, education, and community-based care.

Responsibilities as the RN Training Specialist (OPWDD/IDD):
  • Clinical Training Delivery: Teach AMAP classes for new hires and facilitate recertification courses for existing staff.
  • Educational Facilitation: Lead small training groups, ensuring interactive participation and skill mastery.
  • Curriculum Implementation: Deliver training using approved OPWDD curriculum and instructional materials.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Promote adherence to OPWDD/IDD standards and best practices across all training sessions.
  • Staff Development: Support ongoing professional growth of Direct Support Professionals through effective coaching and evaluation.
Qualifications for the RN Training Specialist (OPWDD/IDD):
  • Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of RN experience with direct exposure to OPWDD or IDD populations required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and comfort with electronic training platforms preferred.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of OPWDD standards, AMAP requirements, and IDD-focused clinical practices.
  • Skills & Attributes: Excellent communication and facilitation skills, ability to engage diverse groups, and a supportive, educational approach to staff training.
  • Language Requirement: Multilingual skills in Creole, French, or Spanish preferred.
