Job Overview – Community Mental Health Nurse (RN):
Compensation: $55/hour
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Primarily field-based, approximately 75% fieldwork)


TAG MedStaffing is hiring a Community Mental Health Nurse (RN) in New York, NY for our client. In this field-based role, you’ll provide compassionate, recovery-focused care to adults with mental health and substance use challenges. You’ll deliver clinical support, promote wellness, and collaborate with community partners to improve outcomes and long-term stability.

Responsibilities as the Community Mental Health Nurse (RN):
  • Health Promotion: Support overall wellness by integrating physical and behavioral healthcare services.
  • Clinical Care: Conduct assessments, administer medications, and manage prescriptions in alignment with treatment needs.
  • Case Coordination: Provide community-based care, ensuring follow-up and continuity across medical and mental health services.
  • Documentation: Complete timely and accurate progress notes, assessments, and care plans in the electronic health record.
  • Collaboration: Work with hospitals, shelters, and providers to deliver coordinated, person-centered, trauma-informed care.
Qualifications for the Community Mental Health Nurse (RN):
  • Licensure: Active and unrestricted New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience providing care to adults with behavioral health, substance use, or trauma-related conditions.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in electronic health record systems.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience working within multidisciplinary or community-based mental health teams strongly preferred.
  • Skills & Attributes: Compassionate, mission-driven RN with excellent clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills, committed to promoting recovery and social reintegration.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual in Spanish and English strongly preferred.
