Job Overview – Associate Director of Psychiatry:
Compensation: $250,000 – $290,000/year
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM


Step into a leadership role as Associate Director of Psychiatry in New York, NY, supporting our client’s multidisciplinary behavioral health team. In this full-time position, you’ll perform psychiatric evaluations, oversee treatment planning, mentor providers, and help drive quality improvement initiatives in collaboration with the Director of Psychiatry.

Responsibilities as the Associate Director of Psychiatry:
  • Clinical Care & Evaluations: Perform psychiatric assessments for new, existing, and walk-in patients, including crisis evaluations and emergency interventions.
  • Medication & Treatment Planning: Prescribe and manage medications, create individualized care plans, and coordinate referrals for inpatient treatment.
  • Supervision & Collaboration: Support NPs and clinical staff through case consultations, supervision, and regular team meetings.
  • Oversight & Peer Review: Participate in peer reviews, contribute to clinical policy updates, and support continuous care improvement.
  • Leadership & Operations: Collaborate with senior leadership on staffing, recruitment, scheduling, and program development across behavioral health services.
Qualifications for the Associate Director of Psychiatry:
  • Education: Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution required.
  • Licensure: Active New York State license to practice Psychiatry is required.
  • Certification: Board Certification in Psychiatry required.
  • Experience: 5+ years of post-residency clinical psychiatric experience, with prior leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and familiarity with regulatory reporting in mental health.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership, communication, and clinical decision-making skills with a collaborative mindset and passion for high-quality psychiatric care.
