Job Overview – Occupational Therapist Compensation: $76,000/year Location: Brooklyn, NY Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 2:00 PM
TAG MedStaffing is hiring an Occupational Therapist in Brooklyn, NY for our client, supporting pediatric occupational therapy services, sensory integration, fine motor development, and functional skill building within a school-based setting. This role will work closely with educators, therapists, families, and support staff to help students improve their ability to participate successfully in educational and daily living activities. The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical skills, a collaborative approach, and a passion for working with children with developmental and learning needs.
Responsibilities as the Occupational Therapist:
Student Evaluations: Conduct screenings, assessments, and ongoing evaluations to identify functional, developmental, and educational support needs.
Therapeutic Interventions: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans designed to improve sensory processing, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, and classroom participation.
IEP Support: Contribute to the development of IEP goals, attend conferences, and provide recommendations to support student progress and educational access.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Partner with teachers, therapists, families, and support staff to coordinate services and promote student success.
Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate treatment records, progress reports, evaluations, attendance records, and required educational documentation.
Family & Staff Education: Provide guidance, training, and recommendations regarding therapeutic strategies, adaptive techniques, and functional skill development.
Qualifications for the Occupational Therapist:
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program is required.
Licensure: Active New York State Occupational Therapist license is required.
Experience: 1–3 years of occupational therapy experience within pediatric, educational, developmental disability, or related healthcare settings is required.
Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of pediatric development, school-based therapy services, and student support strategies is preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with clinical documentation systems, Microsoft Office applications, and educational record management platforms is required.
Skills & Attributes: Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, adaptability, and organizational skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams are required.
