Job Description

Role Overview:
Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate Health Educator to provide health education and counseling to their  HIV/AIDS program. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of complex public health issues and the ability to articulate prevention strategies effectively.

Compensation: $51,900.08 - 56,540.08
Location: New York City
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9 am – 5 pm

Responsibilities:
•    Conduct health assessments and assist in developing client health goals
•    Provide guidance on medical care access, medication adherence, daily living activities, nutrition, and preventive services
•    Monitor clients' medical conditions and coordinate with the clinical team
•    Inform clients of HIV/AIDS clinical trial programs and health updates
•    Facilitate weekly Wellness Self-Management groups and workshops
•    Represent clients at public meetings to promote HIV/AIDS strategies
•    Network with community organizations to enhance clients' quality of life
•    Provide quarterly staff trainings on HIV/AIDS topics and infection control
•    Recruit and coordinate speakers for outreach to diverse communities
•    Maintain detailed clinical documentation of medical and nutrition assessments
•    Assist in organizing an annual agency-wide client conference
•    Accompany clients to medical appointments and provide education as needed

Qualifications:
•    Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Nursing, Health Education, Public Health preferred
•    2+ years experience in public health education, program planning, counseling
•    Expertise in communicable diseases, substance abuse, assault, family planning
•    Preference given to candidates with direct HIV/AIDS work experience
•    Bilingual Spanish abilities strongly preferred
•    Extensive knowledge of health education principles and HIV/AIDS regulations
•    Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
•    Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple priorities
•    Community-oriented, patient, creative and culturally sensitive approach
•    Tact and diplomacy in interacting with diverse stakeholders
