Job Description

Job Overview - Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant:
Join our client’s compassionate team in Brooklyn, NY, as a dedicated Family Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant. In this role, you will deliver primary care to young males in a juvenile detention center, managing the health needs of 15-20 patients per day.

Location: Brooklyn, NY
Compensation: $130,000/year
Schedule: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday

Responsibilities as the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant:
  • Medical Care: Provide comprehensive care to adolescents, ensuring safety and security. Perform patient histories, identify needs, and make diagnoses.
  • Medication Management: Prescribe and distribute medications, obtain consents, administer immunizations, and inform patients about their medications.
  • Documentation and Clinical Support: Complete medical forms, document patient care, track referrals, follow up on care, assist with phlebotomy, ensure patient flow, and complete Court Orders and paperwork.
  • Collaboration and Patient Advocacy: Consult with physicians and specialists, treat employees on an emergent basis, promote health and disease prevention, provide health education, and participate in patient outreach.
  • Supervision and Training: Supervise medical assistants, teach patient care and triage, participate in case conferences, and assist in developing medical protocols.
  • Research and Improvement: Participate in healthcare research and suggest improvements to patient care.
Qualifications for the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant:
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, with pediatric experience preferred.
  • License: Must be licensed and registered as a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) by the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
  • Practice Areas: Experience in Acute Care, College Health, Community Health, Family Health, Holistic Care, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, School Health, and/or Women's Health.
  • Language Skills: Fluent in English and Spanish preferred.
