Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Endoscopy Technician to join our client’s team in providing high-quality patient care. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining equipment, assisting physicians during procedures, managing supplies, and supporting the nursing staff in admitting, recovery, and discharge processes.
Compensation: $30.00 - $34.00
Location: Bronx, New York
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9 am - 5 pm; Open 2 Saturdays per month
Responsibilities:
Admitting (under RN direction)
• Escort patients to changing areas and procedure/admitting rooms
• Connect patients to monitors and activate equipment
Procedure Room (under Physician direction)
• Assist physicians during procedures if qualified
• Set up procedure rooms (excluding medications)
• Clean and disinfect rooms between procedures
• Utilize safety measures (masks, gloves)
• Transfer specimens to Pathology
• Follow emergency protocols within scope of training
Recovery Room (under RN direction)
• Assist patients to restroom
• Provide nourishment to patients
• Follow emergency protocols within scope of training
• Demonstrate knowledge of safety measures
Cleaning Procedures
• Brush, rinse, and leak test scopes after procedures
• Manually soak scopes in high-level disinfectant as needed
• Operate endoscopic reprocessors and other equipment
• Package instruments properly
• Test and document high-level disinfectant efficacy
• Maintain cleanliness of decontamination room
Equipment Maintenance
• Maintain accurate inventory of supplies and equipment
• Operate, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on equipment
• Keep maintenance records and confer with Facility Manager on repairs/purchases
Supplies and Stocking
• Maintain accurate supply inventory and establish stock levels
• Request pricing when ordering supplies
• Stock supplies in decontamination, procedure, and recovery rooms
• Monitor linen and biohazardous waste supply levels
Other Duties
• Assist with end-of-day cleanup (trash, linen, waste collection)
• Maintain the MSDS manual under Charge Nurse direction
• Attend staff meetings and trainings
• Comply with incident reporting systems
Qualifications
• High school graduate with BCLS certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months)
• 1+ year experience in medical setting; GI experience preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Pre-employment physical and testing per state/OSHA standards
• Experience cleaning, disinfecting, and processing endoscopes
• Excellent knowledge of infection control principles
• Previous experience with equipment maintenance and supply ordering a plus
