Job Description

Job Overview - Employment Specialist:
We are seeking a dedicated Employment Specialist to join our team in Brooklyn, NY. You will deliver comprehensive services to individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness (SMI), co-occurring substance use disorders, and criminal legal system involvement. This role involves community outreach, providing educational and vocational support, and promoting client recovery and stability.

Location: Brooklyn, NY
Compensation: $60,000/year
Schedule: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday


Responsibilities of the Employment Specialist Include:
  • Community Outreach and Support: Provide at least 80% of treatment contacts in the community, including leading groups when clinically indicated. Collaborate with clients' support networks and other service providers on treatment planning, service coordination, and case management.
  • Team Collaboration: Attend and participate in daily team meetings to discuss clients’ clinical and case management issues. Provide 24-hour crisis intervention on-call services on a rotating basis.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Complete required documentation for NYS OMH, DOHMH, Medicaid billing guidelines, and internal policies. Complete required documentation and toxicology tests for clients with active Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) orders.
  • Client Advocacy and Liaison: Collaborate with clients' support networks and service providers on treatment planning and service coordination. Provide clinical services that are anti-racist, gender-responsive, culturally humble, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, client-centered, and evidence-based.
Qualifications of the Employment Specialist Include:
  • MHC-LP, LMSW, LMHC, LCSW, with current New York State license.
  • Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness and/or co-occurring substance use disorders.
  • Experience with various evidence-based models pertaining to the treatment of substance use and mental illness.
  • Experience working with individuals involved in the criminal legal system preferred.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated team player.
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred.
