Job Overview - Emergency Services Clinician:
Our client is seeking a dedicated Emergency Services Clinician to join their expanding healthcare team. This role involves providing crisis intervention, crisis counseling, assessment, and psychiatric hospital pre-admission screening for individuals within the AHCS catchment area. Location: Alleghany County, VA
Compensation: $50,000 - $55,000/year
Schedule: 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday

Responsibilities as the Emergency Services Clinician:
  • Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate crisis intervention and counseling to individuals in crisis, either through telehealth or in-person at local hospitals and jails.
  • Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments, including psychiatric history, medication compliance, capacity to care for basic needs, potential substance abuse, and risk of harm.
  • Pre-Admission Screening: Perform psychiatric hospital pre-admission screenings for adults, adolescents, and children in need of inpatient hospital admission.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with police, magistrates, doctors, and family members to determine the best possible outcomes and treatments for clients.
  • Face-to-Face Assessments: Conduct face-to-face assessments to determine the least restrictive treatment option for individuals in crisis.
  • Training: Complete extensive training as a Virginia Pre-screener to ensure competency in pre-screening.
Qualifications for the Emergency Services Clinician:
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental health or substance use disorders.
  • Education: Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology.
  • Licensure: LPC, LCSW, LCP, or Licensed Eligible (LMHP-R or LMHP).
  • Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, time management, and computer skills; ability to work well within a team setting and handle crisis situations effectively.
