Job Overview – Director of Programs and Outreach (LMSW):
Take on a leadership role with our client in New York, NY, as the Director of Programs and Outreach. Oversee a 24/7 program with 50-60 staff, driving outreach, housing placements, and partnerships with city agencies. Lead efforts to support homeless populations with innovative strategies, high-quality services, and collaborative team management.
Compensation: $87,000 - $95,000/year
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Responsibilities as the Director of Programs and Outreach:
Program Leadership: Oversee a 24/7 program, supervising Assistant Program Directors, Housing and Reporting Specialists, and other key staff.
Outreach Strategy: Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage individuals experiencing street homelessness and provide supportive services.
Service Quality: Ensure high-quality service delivery using best practices, including Housing First, Harm Reduction, and Motivational Interviewing models.
Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis response, including 958 removals and risk assessments, in collaboration with on-site psychiatric and street medicine teams.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, community boards, elected officials, housing partners, and other stakeholders to develop solution-focused strategies.
Budget Oversight: Manage the program budget effectively, ensuring compliance with financial and contractual requirements.
Qualifications for the Director of Programs and Outreach:
Education: NYS Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW) required.
Experience: 5+ years in a Supervisory role managing 24/7 programs for homeless or formerly homeless populations.
Industry Skills: Expertise in Housing First, Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, health systems, risk assessment, and crisis management.
Skills: Proven leadership and exceptional communication skills to manage teams and engage diverse stakeholders.
Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams); familiarity with Access-based databases preferred.
Preferred: Bilingual Spanish/English.
