Job Overview - Criminal Justice Specialist:
We are seeking a dedicated Criminal Justice Specialist to join the team at our New York location. You will play a critical role in delivering comprehensive services to individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness (SMI) and co-occurring substance use disorders. The Criminal Justice Specialist role involves community outreach, client advocacy, and close collaboration with various stakeholders to promote client recovery and stability.
Location: New York, NY
Compensation: $60,000/year
Schedule: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday
Responsibilities of the Criminal Justice Specialist Include:
Community Outreach and Support: Provide at least 80% of treatment contacts in the community, including leading groups when clinically indicated. Collaborate with clients' support networks and other service providers on treatment planning, service coordination, and case management.
Team Collaboration: Attend and participate in daily team meetings to discuss clients’ clinical and case management issues. Provide 24-hour crisis intervention on-call services on a rotating basis.
Documentation and Compliance: Complete required documentation for NYS OMH, DOHMH, Medicaid billing guidelines, and internal policies. Complete required documentation and toxicology tests for clients with active Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) orders.
Client Advocacy and Liaison: Liaise with stakeholders involved in clients’ justice involvement (e.g., Correctional Health Services, defense attorney, judge, court diversion programs) to advocate for client care and services.
Clinical Service Delivery: Provide clinical services that are anti-racist, gender-responsive, culturally humble, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, client-centered, and evidence-based.
Qualifications of the Criminal Justice Specialist Include:
LMHC, MHC-LP, LMSW, LCSW, with current New York State license.
Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness and/or co-occurring substance use disorders.
Experience with various evidence-based models pertaining to the treatment of substance use and mental illness.
Experience working with individuals involved in the criminal legal system preferred.
Highly organized and self-motivated team player.
Fluency in Spanish preferred.
