Compensation: $70,000 – $85,000/year
Location: Grand Traverse County, MI
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Night Shift)


TAG MedStaffing is hiring a Behavioral Health Therapist (LMSW/LPC) in Grand Traverse County, MI for our client, supporting crisis intervention, behavioral health assessments, and community-based mental health services. In this role, you will conduct clinical assessments, provide therapeutic support, and assist individuals experiencing behavioral health crises while maintaining documentation in accordance with Medicaid and state behavioral health guidelines.

Responsibilities as the Behavioral Health Therapist (LMSW/LPC):
  • Crisis Assessment & Intervention: Conduct crisis screenings, inpatient assessments, and initial clinical evaluations for individuals experiencing behavioral health emergencies across crisis centers, emergency departments, and community settings.
  • Therapeutic Services: Provide brief solution-focused therapy and crisis stabilization interventions for individuals and groups when clinically appropriate.
  • Emergency Department Coordination: Perform behavioral health assessments for individuals presenting in emergency department settings through in-person or virtual evaluations.
  • Care Coordination & Referrals: Collaborate with healthcare providers, courts, schools, substance use programs, and community agencies to coordinate services and support continuity of care.
  • Clinical Documentation & Compliance: Complete accurate documentation of assessments, treatment plans, and service activities in accordance with Medicaid requirements and clinical documentation standards.
Qualifications for the Behavioral Health Therapist (LMSW/LPC):
  • Education: Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field from an accredited institution is required.
  • Licensure: Active licensure in the State of Michigan as an LMSW, LPC, or a comparable behavioral health license is required, and limited licenses such as LLMSW or LLPC may also be considered based on experience.
  • Experience: Professional experience providing behavioral health counseling, crisis intervention, or community mental health services is preferred.
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of community mental health systems, crisis response practices, and relevant behavioral health regulations or state mental health guidelines is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Experience using electronic health record systems and clinical documentation platforms within behavioral health or community mental health settings is preferred.
  • Skills & Attributes: Demonstrates strong clinical judgment, crisis management skills, communication abilities, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and community partners.
