Job Overview - Behavioral Health Counselor:
We are seeking a Behavioral Health Counselor to work at our Brooklyn location. This role involves providing behavioral health services to individuals with substance use disorders, formulating treatment plans, and coordinating care.
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Compensation: $30-$38/hour (Dependent on LMSW, CASAC-T, CASAC)
Schedule: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday
Responsibilities as the Behavioral Health Counselor:
Conduct intake interviews, assessments, and screenings.
Develop and review treatment plans.
Provide individual and group counseling.
Act as a case manager, coordinating care and referrals.
Complete timely documentation in the electronic health record system.
Collect samples for toxicology tests.
Prepare monthly updates for court or referring agencies.
Participate in team case reviews and develop discharge plans.
Attend meetings and trainings.
Qualifications for the Behavioral Health Counselor:
New York State Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) or LMSW.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in substance use counseling and case management.
Experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds and individuals involved with the legal system.
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
Computer literacy (word processing, e-mail, internet research, data entry).
Excellent clinical writing skills.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
