Job Overview – Medical Assistant:
Compensation: $23/hour
Location: Newark, NJ
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Our client is hiring a Medical Assistant in Newark, NJ, to join their outpatient care team. This in-office role supports patient care by assisting with exams, preparing patients for visits, performing routine lab work, and managing documentation in NextGen or similar EMR systems. Ideal candidates have both clinical and administrative experience, with strong organizational and adaptability skills.

Responsibilities as the Medical Assistant:
  • Patient Intake & Prep: Greet patients, verify health history, and prepare them for exams.
  • Clinical Support: Assist providers, perform basic lab tests, handle specimens, and sterilize instruments.
  • Patient Communication: Provide medication instructions, answer treatment questions, and support follow-up care.
  • Documentation & EMR: Accurately record vitals and visit details while managing prescriptions and updating the electronic medical record system.
  • Facility Upkeep: Maintain clean exam rooms, monitor supply levels, and ensure equipment readiness.
Qualifications for the Medical Assistant:
  • Education: Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program is required.
  • Certification: Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA) preferred.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a clinical or ambulatory care setting.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with EMR systems required, with experience in NextGen strongly preferred.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong multitasking, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently in a high-volume environment.
