Job Overview – Licensed Practical Nurse (Mental Health):
Compensation: $42/hour
Location: Bronx, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Our client is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (Mental Health) in the Bronx, NY, to provide community-based care for individuals with mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. In this field role, you will perform health assessments, administer medications, and support recovery while collaborating with physicians, nurse practitioners, and clinicians to improve client outcomes.
Responsibilities as the Licensed Practical Nurse (Mental Health):
Patient Care: Deliver high-quality nursing services within LPN scope, including administering medications, vaccines, PPD tests, and performing phlebotomy.
Client Assessment & Advocacy: Evaluate client needs for medical, housing, and mental health services while advocating for access to community resources.
Medication Management: Collaborate with the RN to manage medication inventory, administration, compliance, and monitoring of side effects.
Care Coordination: Partner with the psychiatrist and other providers to ensure clients receive comprehensive medical and mental health care.
Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate EHR records and provide culturally competent care aligned with organizational policies.
Qualifications for the Licensed Practical Nurse (Mental Health):
Licensure: Active New York State Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in mental health, substance use, or related healthcare settings preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and computer systems.
Industry Knowledge: Understanding of community-based mental health treatment and supportive services.
Skills & Attributes: Strong organizational and communication skills, self-motivated, with Spanish language proficiency preferred.
